シルクについて

シルクとは

シルクは、蚕蛾（かいこ）の蛹（さなぎ）が成虫に成長する間に作られるタンパク質で、育成ポットのようなものです。
シルク繭は、蚕蛾の体内から吐き出されたタンパク質で構成されています。

シルクとはタンパク質は２種類のこと

シルク繭は主に２種類のタンパク質で構成されています。

• ７０％フィブロインタンパク質
• ３０％セリシンタンパク質

このタンパク質はそれぞれ異なる働きをします。

フィブロインタンパク質＝糸になります。

セリシンタンパク質＝繭を作る接着コーティング剤の役割です。

シルク石鹸はセリシンタンパク質を使った物が多く、その特徴は洗い心地がしっとりすることです。

シルク繭のセリシンタンパク質は、ケラチンと呼ばれるタンパク質と似ています。ケラチンは髪の毛の主成分であり、接着やコーティング剤のような役割を果たします。そのため、セリシンタンパク質は肌にコーティングを施し、ざらざらした肌をなめらかにする効果があります。

また、ケラチンは水に溶ける性質を持っているため、繭から抽出することも容易です。これにより、シルク石鹸にはセリシンタンパク質が多く使用されています。

一方、フィブロインタンパク質は水に溶けない性質を持っているため、シルクと最初にイメ―ジするようなネクタイや洋服の原料の糸として使用されることが多いです。セリシンタンパク質のようなしっとりした効果はありませんが、他の機能を持っています。

シルクの３つの機能性

当社が取り入れているフィブロインタンパク質の働きが石鹸に適しているポイントを解説します。

人間の肌への親和性(しんわせい）が高い・・・人の肌にやさしいことです。

フィブロインタンパク質は人のタンパク質の組成と類似しているため、拒否反応が起きにくく、アレルギーなどを引き起こしにくい特徴があります。例えば、シルクは化学繊維ができる前は手術の縫合糸として使用されていました。人の体内に糸が入ってもアレルギー反応が起きにくいため、安心して使用できる素材として知られています。また、シルクは手術時の抜糸時にも痛みが少ないとされています。そのため、敏感肌や赤ちゃんの肌にも優しいと言われています。

吸脂性／吸着性・・・余分な皮脂・汚れを落とすこと。

フィブロインタンパク質は余分な皮脂や汚れを吸着する性質を持っています。

つまり、肌の余分な皮脂や老廃物のみを削り取るのではなく、シルクが吸着してくれます。

洗った後の肌はさっぱりとした心地よさを感じることができます。

体内に吸収されない、肌離れが良い・・・肌に残りづらい、肌離れが良いからベタベタしない。

フィブロインタンパク質は体内に吸収されません。そのため、洗った後の泡は肌に残らず、汚れや余分な皮脂を吸着した泡はきれいにすすぎ落ちます。肌がベタつくことはありません。

Since Daijoubu Company offers soaps made from silk protein, we want to share our genuine intention of why we use it as our main ingredient.

What is necessary for soap?

Daijoubu Company was created with a goal to produce a soap that can be used daily, provides a thorough and refreshing cleansing experience, safe for people with sensitive skin, and easy to rinse off as it does not leave a tight or residue feeling on the skin. Such goals find their roots in a deeply personal motivation—the founder's spouse, who grapples with delicate skin. About Silk

Silk is a protein produced during the growth of the silkworm pupa into an adult moth, and it acts as a nurturing container. Silk cocoons are composed of proteins expelled from the silkworm's body. Silk cocoons itself are primarily consisted of two types of proteins which have different functions:

• 70% Fibroin protein that becomes a silk thread.
• 30% Sericin protein which acts as an adhesive coating agent in creating the cocoon.

The later protein, Sericin, has been used in personal care products such as soap, since it gives it a moisturizing effect. The Sericin protein in silk cocoons is indeed similar to a protein called Keratin, which is known as the main component of hair, and plays a role in adhesion and coating. As a result, sericin protein will coat the skin and provide a smoothing effect to rough skin.

In addition, keratin has the property of being soluble in water, making it easy to extract from the cocoon. This is also why sericin protein is commonly used in silk-made soap.

Referring back to the other protein in silk which is Fibroin, it is a protein that is insoluble in water. Because of such factor, Fibroin is often used as the raw material for silk ties and clothing. While it does not have the moisturizing effect of Sericin protein, it has other functions for silk-made soap.

Three Functionalities of Silk

We will explain about why fibroin protein's is suitable as a soap ingredients.

• High Compatibility with Human Skin

Fibroin protein is similar in composition to human proteins, making it less likely to cause rejection reactions or allergies. Historically, silk has been utilized as surgical sutures, attesting to its safety within the human body. It is known for being a material that can be safely used within the human body without causing allergic reactions. Silk is also known to cause less pain when removed during suture removal. Therefore, it is considered gentle for sensitive skin and baby skin.

• Lipophilicity/Adsorption: Removing Excess Sebum and Dirt

Fibroin protein possesses a unique property—adsorbing excess sebum and dirt. Unlike conventional methods that merely remove impurities from the skin, silk actively absorbs them. This results in a refreshed feeling after washing, enhancing the efficacy of the cleaning process.

• Non-absorbency and Good Skin Compatibility: Non-greasy Feeling

The non-absorbent nature of fibroin protein ensures that it does not penetrate the body. Consequently, the foam carrying dirt and excess sebum is cleanly rinsed off, leaving the skin devoid of any greasy residue.
